Baking Recipe: Passion Swirl Cake (Yellow Buttercake + Passion Fruit White Chocolate Ganache + Lemon Italian Meringue Buttercream)

The past weeks has been hectic, and I know I have been missing in action, abandoning my poor blog. There has been some challenges at work, and I am sure I will get through it. However, I wouldn't want to bore you with my other daily life. Instead, this month is a really special month. Exactly one year ago, I introduced little Miss A aka Miss Buttons to all of you on my blog. If you recalled my Amanda's Pink Rainbow Cake, that's when I first introduced her to my blog. Can you imagine a year has gone by swiftly?
Miss A is now 1 years old. I feel really lucky as an Aunt that I get to see her grow into her clothes and shoes. I still recalled when I baked her cake last year, it made Foodbuzz's Top 9, and I was thrilled as so many of you came over to buzz me and left me with heaps of sweet comments. Not a day goes by that I don't think of your support. In fact, all of your support puts a smile on my face and seriously turns any bad day to a wonderful day.
So this year, it's a challenge. I had to think of a cake to top my previous cake that I baked a year ago. The frosting colour of the overall cake, is inspired by several resources. From Sweeetapolita's Pastel Swirl Cake, to India Tree "Monet" sprinkles and Rottencupcakes "Tonal Tuesday-Indestructible". I bought the sprinkles a while ago and had been saving it for a special occasion. I knew the sprinkles would be perfect and it inspired the main colour theme (lilac, sky blue and pink) on the cake. Plus I made her a figure 1 out of fondant, painted with food colouring and sprinkled luster dust all over for the disco glitter effect.
For the little one, my Passion Fruit & White Chocolate Ganache Yellow Butter cake with Lemon Italian Meringue Butter cream frosting has to resemble something sweet, memorable, and the colours of Parisian chic. I have tried and tested the yellow butter cake recipe several times, and it's perfect. Slightly dense, light and moist. The cake is a 4 layer 7-inches cake, where both layers are frosted with a really simple to make Passion Fruit White Chocolate Ganache and frosted with Lemon Italian Meringue Butter cream frosting to balance all the sweetness. The end result; will be a slightly sweet and tart cake, which definitely will have you asking for another slice. And I am sure you will or want to lick the frosting off your spatula, refrain if possible ;p.. otherwise, go knock yourself out and have fun!!!

Jo, After reading your post, and seeing Nami's comment; I got to wonder, why would you call your blog, 'Miss A?'...but then, knowing that your blog is close to 2yrs old, and clearly seeing about the birthday is for your little niece...you also have a little nephew, as well, who is about 3yrs old now?...but then you also had a birthday cake for your brother's 21st birthday not too long ago, on your blog...again, that was confusing, I thought your brother was a few years younger than you...maybe you have 2 brothers?...enough for now, cause now I'm really confused!

    At any rate, your cake is gorgeous...as ever; love the pretty color, and the decoration, not to mention how delicious it is! Happy 1st Birthday, to your baby niece:D
