Raspberry Lemonade Yogurt Pops and Guest Post

Summer is here. Though it's summer all year round here in KL, this is dedicated to my friends abroad on the other side of the globe. For my friends down under, there will be another recipe coming up for you too. Instead of my usual sinful treats, I decided to take a lighter approach for today's post. What can be a perfect summer treat to quench a thirst on a hot day? In my books, it definitely has to have some form of citrus involved, and must be icy-cold. Today's post is pretty special as I have never done this before. It my very first time guest posting for another sweet blogger, who I had the chance to get to know a little more. Hoorah!!! Who is this sweet gal? Oops, I have just let one clue out of the hat. Okay.. I don't think I can hold it in any longer. To welcome her, may I have some "drum rolls" please? I am pleased to introduce you to Jes from Pencil Kitchen. Do pop over her blog and give her a holler too. Oh! You might get to know me a little more too. For a moment I thought I am the Asian Donna Hay, being interviewed by Jes. That's me living in my own dreamland ;).

Spot the "J": It's for Jes & Jo
This guest posting is really a coincidence and I believe it was meant to happen. Recently, Jes sent me an e-mail asking if I would like to guest post for her which coincidentally I was drafting an e-mail to her too. I wanted to let her know that I will be going down to Singapore over the weekend and  wondered if she would be free to meet up. And what do you know? I am going down to Singapore and she's coming over to Malaysia over the same weekend too. Is that coincidence or what?. So looks like, we will be meeting another time right Jes? To sum up, the both of us shares equal deep passion in baking and it isn't funny. We discovered we have pretty much the same taste, from food styling to props and to cake flavours. @Jes: I am deeply honoured and feeling ultra excited on working on this project. So, THANKS for thinking of me and having me on board.
Moving on, I will have you know that I had a slight hick-up. I was torn as I wasn't quite sure if I should bake a cake or make a cold treat. When I looked outside my kitchen, it was just too hot and humid that my major concern is that the humidity will ruin the frosting. I do know Jes loves a good chocolate cake, and I dare say I make a pretty darn good mean chocolate-y cake ;).

instead, I made a really simple, quick, light and refreshing Raspberry Lemonade Yogurt Mini Pops. These pops are a wee-tart from the yogurt and lemonade. However, I lighten the yogurt with some whipping cream, then added vanilla extract and some powdered sugar to the yogurt cream to add hint of sweetness to balance the tangy flavour from Raspberry Lemonade. This pop may be simple. However, it's ultra smooth, creamy and packed with refreshing flavour. Just take one lick, and you will be licking again and again.

xx

  1. Love these, perfect for the heat swings we have been having. That is so cool you and Jen could meet and that you guys love the same things. I could easily live in a place with summer all year because I hate putting pants on. That kind of sounds like I'm some kind of sicko - he he, I prefer shorts is what I should of said, lol. Hope you have a great weekend.

    1. LOL.. you never fail to crack me up Gina! I on the other hand prefers it to be slightly colder, but then not really when it hits the negative temperature.. that's way too cold. I tend to complain it's way to hot here.. Not to worry.. i wear a lot of shorts here but then you might think we are crazy since we wear a lot of jeans too when we go out.. LOL.. have a great week ahead and glad to see you are back in the kitchen.. HUgggssss

  7. Wow! Your photos are great! The yoghurt pops are so pretty! I learnt a trick to make a quick yoghurt pop just by freezing small tubs of yoghurt with popsticle stick inserted. Could probably combined with this recipe!

  9. Hi Jo, Congratulations on your first guest post! There are certain rules to guest posting...and the biggest rule is: you have to tell the readers if they want the recipe, they have to click over to the guest post (in other words, you're not supposed to show the recipe)
and feature only 1 or 2 photos...and something else: from what I heard, you can re-post the same post w/recipe, all over again...in 5 days! (kind of did my research when I guest posted for Lizzy)

I love the pretty pink color, and the shape of the pops. Yogurt certainly gives them a creamy and smooth flavor, and the lemonade adds a color and refreshing taste. The pink swirl, and the cute little heart shape drawing is so you! Gsbby will be so happy that I will save this yummy recipe for her to make with her frozen pop maker!
Big Hugssss to you too, my sweet friend!

    1. I noticed that too, I guess everyone is trying to treat themselves to a healthier option, but you know me, I still love my treats sinful. However, I thought something once a while wouldn't hurt either. Not to mention it's really perfect to cool off the hot day. Till the weather is slightly cooler which I say it's rare here in KL, I will bake again. Otherwise, I am hanging up my apron for a while.. LOL xoxo

  20. Hi Jo, I'm back again...thanks for your sweet comments, I really appreciate them. I still think fondly of our wonderful time in Sand Francisco @ the Foodbuzz festival. That was so much fun. Hopefully, I we can meet up again, this fall!

No worries abt. the rules for guest posting. I only guest posted twice, myself, the first time when I did, I really 'did my homework' to find out how its done, and the second time Lora and I did it together, for Lizzy, and it was a lot easier! I turned down a few guest posts before my first one to Swathi, because I didn't want to mess up, and as you know there's quite a bit of work involved.

As for Gabby: she is such a pro with her popsicle maker, and has made several different kinds. She has her own blog, but has not posted anything in at least several months. I do have a photo of her making the popsicle, and will send to you if I can find it...she needs to upload that as well!
Here's her blog address: she would be so happy if you followed her, and she will follow you back:D
